Statement of Faith

ABOUT GOD

There is only one living and true God, the Creator and the Ruler of the universe.  He has revealed Himself to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence and being.

Genesis 1: 26, 27; 3:22;  Matthew 28:19; Psalms 90:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 Peter 1:2

ABOUT JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ, Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of virgin Mary. As such, He was both completely human and divine in nature. Though tempted in flesh, He was without sin in both nature and conduct. In His death on the cross, He made provision for the redemption of humanity from sin and death.  He was raised from the dead and ascended into heaven where He now is seated at the right hand of the Father.

Isaiah 9:6 ; Matthew 1:22.23 ;  1 Corinthians 15:3-4 ;  Romans 1:3-4 ; John 1:1-5, 10,30 ; Hebrews 4:14-15 ; Acts 1:9-11 ; Titus 2:13 ; 1 Timothy 6:14-15

ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God who indwells the believer from the moment he receives Christ in his life.  The Holy Spirit convicts people of sin and effects regeneration in those who believe. He enables people to understand divine truth. He guides, sanctifies, comforts, and empowers believers to live a godly life and serve God effectively. Galatians 5:25 ; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16 ; 2 Corinthians 3:17 ; Acts 1:8 ; Ephesians 5:18 ; John 16: 7-13,14,16,17 ; Ephesians 5:18

ABOUT THE WORD OF GOD

The Holy Bible, consisting of sixty-six books, is the inspired record of God’s revelation of Himself to humanity. It is humanity’s authoritative and sufficient guide of truth in all matters of religious faith and practice. 2 Timothy 3:16 . 1:13 ; Psalms 119: 105,160, 12:6 ; Proverbs 30:5 ; 2 Peter 1:20-21

ABOUT MAN

Humanity was created by God in His own image and likeness. Given freedom of choice, Adam, father of mankind - disobeyed God and brought sin into the human race. Because of man’s sinful nature and environment, people are separated from God and are in need of salvation. Genesis 1:27 ; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1-2 , 53:6a ; Psalms 8:3-6

ABOUT SALVATION

Salvation is offered by the grace of God to all who in true faith accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. In His substitutionary death, Jesus provided eternal redemption for all who come to Him in repentance and faith. Those who have received salvation in Christ are united with God in the Spirit and received eternal life. Romans 6:23 , 5:1 , John 10:29 , 14:6 , 1:12 ; Titus 3:5 ; Galatians 3:26 ; Ephesians 2:8-9 ; Hebrews 7:25 , 10:10,14 ; 1 Peter 1:3-5 ;  2 Timothy 1:12

ABOUT THE CHURCH

The church was founded by Jesus Christ and includes all of the redeemed. The New Testament speaks of the church as the body of Christ. The ultimate purpose of God for the church is to be the bride of Christ and family (children) of God ( Ephesians 5:22-32 ; Revelations 19:7 , 21:2,9; Rom. 8:2 ; Eph. 1:5 ) – a people who will live in perfect love,  obedience, and fellowship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The immediate purpose of the church is to be:

1.)  A fellowship of redeemed men and women bounded together by the Spirit of God for worship, fellowship, edification, to care for every member of the body of Christ. The two ordinances practiced by the church are water immersion and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism is the immersion of the believer in water signifying his death to sin and new life in Christ ( Colossians 2:12 ). The Lord’s Supper memorializes the death of Jesus and expresses faith in His return to earth ( 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 ).

2.)  A center for witness and manifestation of God through which the love of God may be proclaimed and demonstrated. The church exists to “ make disciples of all nations ” ( Matthew 28:19-20 ) . Every believer is a disciple of God equipped with spiritual gifts and abilities to build up the church and win the spiritually lost to Christ.

Colossians 1:18 ;  1 Peter 2:9 ; Revelations 1:6 ; 1 Corinthians 12:12-27 ; Hebrew 10:24-25 , 3:13 ; Luke 10: 25-37

ABOUT THE FUTURE

Jesus Christ will come again in glory and power to judge and to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. There will be a resurrection of the righteous and the wicked dead. The unrighteous will be consigned to hell, the place of eternal punishment (Matthew 25:41,46 , 8:12 ; Revelations 21:8, 9:1-2,11 ) . The righteous in their resurrected and glorified bodies will receive their reward and will dwell in the new heavens and the new earth in the presence of God forever  ( Revelations 21:1-3, 22:3 ; Isaiah 65:17 ; 2 Peter   3:13 )

Titus 2:12-13 ; Matthew 24:44 ; Acts 1:11 ; 1 Thessalonians 4:16 ; Hebrews 9:28 ; James 5:8 ; 2 Peter 3:10 ; 1 John 3:2 ; Revelations 22:20 ; Revelations 1:7
