Convictions and Commitments
All people have convictions. Based on their convictions, they have commitments. Commitments result to the lifestyle choices as well as the little daily decisions people make. We do what we believe in.
However, it's possible to say one believes in something yet not do what naturally flows from that conviction. In our lives as followers of Christ, a large number of people claim to be followers of Christ, yet they do not do what Christ commands. Christ wants his followers to pray, but they don't pray. Christ instructs them to tell others about him, but they are very silent about the Lord to the people around them.
Convictions or strong beliefs in some things are not going to benefit anyone if they are not lived out. And certainly, convictions and commitments (lifestyle choices) must align. Where there is a gap between them, you and I need to close the gap.
If you consider yourself to be a follower of Christ, you need to do what Christ wants his followers to do. The Bible contains God's blueprint and instructions in living a life that pleases God. Do what God says. Love your family, serve the Lord, honor the Lord with your finances, and so on. If you do, you will bring praises to God and blessings and to yourself and others.
God's bountiful blessings to you and your family this week!
