“The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: ... 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' 31 The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these.
Mark 12:29
What are the things that really matter in the short life that we are given on this earth? What really counts and means something? What truly satisfies and fulfills the purpose for which you and I were created?
People of different generations, cultures, and value systems answer the foregoing questions differently. The answers that are given can be as varied as the people who are asked. The sure and reliable answer, however, is given not by man, but by God himself.
When the Lord Jesus Christ was asked what the most important command was, he answered, “Love the Lord with all that you are” and “Love others the way you love yourself”. If these are what the Lord wants us to do above any and every thing, these must concern the most important things in life. Today, we want to look into these two most important issues. We will, however, focus on the first and most important thing: that you and I love the Lord with all that we are.
We will see what this means and how we can apply this in our daily personal and family lives and ministries. We will highlight some key distinctions and emphases, and receive practical ideas as to how we can make them real in our lives.
Loving God is the most important thing. It is the most fulfilling thing. It is the most godly and God-glorifying thing you and I can ever be engaged in. Be filled with God’s love for you, and overflow to love God with everything you’ve got.
God’s rich blessings on you and your family today!
