Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10
You were created to rule over and take care of God’s creation! You were made to love, and one of the greatest expressions of love is serving. We serve God because we love him. And we serve people because we value them.
There’s much joy in doing things for God! It’s very satisfying to be helping people. A “relaxed” life is overrated. Doing nothing may help you avoid some stress, but it will cause you to miss out on many great blessings that come when you are involved in service. So many people are bored and eventually get entangled in unhealthy or ungodly things because they are not engaged in using their God-given abilities to accomplish good and godly things. Being involved in bringing glory to God and good to others is a far more meaningful way to spend our short life here on earth. And it also prepares us to fully and richly enjoy eternity (forever) with God because God will surely and generously reward those who serve him.
Today, we celebrate the privilege and joys of serving God and people. As we say often here at Lighthouse, “it’s more fun serving the Lord”! Part of your purpose in life is service. God made you to be useful, and you find greater satisfaction in life serving than just being concerned with your own needs and desires.
For two weeks beginning today, we are launching a very important campaign, the iServe Ministry campaign. We strongly encourage everyone to be involved in any of our secondary ministries. Inserted in your newsletter today is a sheet that describes the various secondary ministries. There is also a portion where you can indicate what ministry you wish to volunteer in. We encourage you to get involved. You don’t need to promise to do big things. Even small acts of service once a month or two months will make a difference. They are appreciated and will make an impact in many lives. All hands on deck, please. Together, let’s contribute to the needs and concerns of the church and the kingdom of God by using our God-given abilities to serve.
Kindly submit your ministry sign up slip to the people in the booth of the ministry that you desire to volunteer to be involved in. Chat for a minute or two with one of the existing volunteers there. You will make new and good friends. And you will get started in a journey that will help you grow and find deep fulfillment in your life.
Personally, serving God has been a great source of blessing in my life and the life of my family! Let’s serve the Lord together! It’s more fun living life that way!
