Protecting Yourself and your Family from Evil Spirits
Ephesians 6:11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
Inspite of all the scientific and technological advances that humanity has accumulated through the centuries, the dynamics or elements of human life remain essentially the same. We have more conveniences, we can do things faster, etc, but we battle the same basic issues and threats.
One of the dangers that still threaten to harm human beings is the activity of evil spirits. This is a bit harder to recognize for some because the general direction of what is called science has been to rationalize everything and remove anything that cannot be proven in a laboratory. This is, of course, erroneous. There are so many things that so-called science cannot explain. In fact, scientific literature contains issues that are acknowledged as “unknown” as far their true cause or origin are. Honest intellects acknowledge that they don’t know many things.
Common sense, however, helps us. When, for example, a father would brutally murder his son or sexually abuse his daughter repeatedly, that is beyond mere human dynamics. Yes the sinful nature (flesh) that resides in each human being (whether he is follower of Christ or not) can explain that, at least partly. But when fathers, in our illustrative case, would commit those great evils, there is probably, in addition to the sinful nature, some external force that has been allowed to come into the picture- the activity of evil spirits or demons.
The clearest ideas on the true reason why people do certain things and why some things happen the way they do are contained in the Bible. The Bible, as the Word of God, describes without distortion or bias the true picture of human life and the true reasons for human actions and events. By ignorance, willful sinful choices, or participation in activities that honor Satan or evil, you and I can open our lives to demonic activities that can destroy us and our families. The devil and his servants- the demons or evil spirits- are not harmless forces. They are, in fact, the opposite- they are very harmful and fully evil. They will not bring you good, but only evil.
Today, let us resolve to protect ourselves, our families, and our ministries from any evil spiritual power that can harm us. The devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). Ask the Lord’s forgiveness for your sinful willful lifestyle choices, arm yourself with knowledge on how the evil spirits want to destroy you and your family, and fight with all determination for your life and future. The Lord will help you! You will win the battle as you follow the teachings of God contained in the Bible!
