6 Qualities of Strong Families

Posted on November 3, 2012July 29, 2024
LATEST SUNDAY MESSAGE Strong families. Happy families. Everyone wants them. We all need them. But so many people don’t have them. We congratulate and rejoice with those who have what may be considered as strong and happy families. We all want to be like them. The good news is that you and I can have strong families. It may take a lot of effort (prayer, investments of time and money, and more). But it is possible. It is within reach. While there is no guarantee that we can have perfect families, most of us can have working families (families where there is a measure of love, respect, and provision). All family members (or at least most family members) will need to contribute something toward building strong families. There will be a price to pay, but the rewards will be worth more than all the sacrifices. The building of strong families is a greater challenge to those who, at this point, are the minority in their families as far as good family values are concerned. If you are the only Christ-follower in your family and the other members are absorbed in their own troubles and are not able or do not know how to build a strong family, you will need to be strong while you seek a positive change in your family. But the Lord will help you and the brothers and sisters in the church will support you in your quest to see your family become a strong and happy family. Regardless of how big the task before you may be, there is hope for you. The Lord’s power is stronger in the situations when we are weak (2 Corinthians 12:9). Don’t despair, but keep planting the seeds that will change your family. As we look at the 6 qualities that strong and happy families have in common, let us evaluate the state of our families. The result of the evaluation may be painful or disappointing at first, but let the need for change drive you closer to the Lord. Resolve to pray regularly for the transformation of your family. And start the change within yourself. When you change, the people and circumstances in your family can also change. Use the insights you gain from this teaching to make your family a strong and happy family. Apply them with God’s help. Don’t give up easily if things don’t change right away. God’s principles are powerful. They will strengthen and bless your family.
