"If you are a true follower of Jesus, you are now free from the tyranny of the old self, the sinful nature. You are now alive towards God."
We come alive in the presence of God. Make your Sunday special as you join us for our WORSHIP CELEBRATIONS at the Lighthouse, Cinema 6, NCCC Victoria Plaza Mall. We have three worship schedules: 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 3:00 PM. Come along with your family and friends as you make it your Sunday habit to honor God.
IF YOU ARE A TRUE FOLLOWER OF JESUS, YOU ARE NOW FREE FROM THE POWER OF SIN
Followers of Jesus now have a new relationship with sin: they owe it nothing any longer. It’s domination over their lives is over. Sin here does not refer to the things we do that are not right (sinful actions, thoughts, or words), but to the sinful nature, the flesh, inside us.
If you have truly turned your back on self and have surrendered your life to the control of Jesus Christ, you are now free from sin (Romans 6:1-11)
SALVATION (FREEDOM FROM SIN AND LIFE TOWARDS GOD) IS AVAILABLE ONLY IN UNION WITH CHRIST JESUS (Romans 6: 11; 1 Corinthians 6:17; 2 Corinthians 5:17)
Your new relationship of freedom from sin (“dead to sin”) and your new relationship of forgiveness, right standing, and adoption by God as his son or daughter (“alive to God”) is made possible only through union with Christ Jesus.
“In Christ Jesus” means “in union with Christ Jesus”. It means that Jesus’ death becomes your death, and his resurrection (life) becomes your resurrection.
When you are in Christ Jesus and he is in you, you are truly dead (free) from sin and alive to God (Acts 4: 12)
BECAUSE YOU ARE DEAD TO SIN, YOU CAN SAY NO TO ITS TEMPTATIONS AND DEMANDS (Romans 6:6-7, 9-11; Romans 6:1-4)
Addictions can be broken when you realize that a higher power, a stronger life is active in you, and you are now free. You can choose not to give in to ungodly tendencies. You can choose not to give in.
You are tempted, but you resist because you are already dead. You take the grace of God with respect for God. You value your salvation
Tom Fuller: “Don’t confuse forgiveness with permission.”
BECAUSE YOU ARE ALIVE TO GOD, YOU CAN EXPERIENCE HIM AND HIS GIFTS IN VERY REAL WAYS (Romans 6:11; Romans 6:4; Luke 24:32; Matthew 5:8)
STAY UNITED WITH CHRIST SO YOU CONTINUE TO BE FREE AND ALIVE (John 15:4-7)
