Philippians 2:15 so that you may be blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine as lights in the world.
We live in an age when many people deny the idea of moral absolutes. A large number of people argue that ethics has no universal foundation because people hold to different values especially as times have changed. Yet these same people don’t like their employees to steal from them, their friends to lie to them, or their spouse or lover to be unfaithful to them. As the people of God, you and I are called by God to live ethically in an age when so many people do not practice truthfulness, honesty, and other universally accepted moral principles. Specifically, we are expected by the Lord to refuse to compromise because of fear, pressure, temptation, favors, and other factors. We are to do right because it is the right thing to do regardless of who will be happy or angry as a result. While it may seem reasonable to expect people who call themselves Christians to live ethically, the sad reality is that very many compromise regularly. Many researches that have been done showed that people who go to church are almost as likely to lie, cheat, or compromise as people who are not interested in church or religion. This is the sadder truth. It’s one thing when people who have no interest in God practice unethical things, but for churchgoers to act like them is tragic. The Lord is calling us to honor him by making the changes now by his power and with his help. You can live on high ethical ground. You can live honestly in a dishonest world. You can be different ethically, and thus be a force for God and good in a world that has lost its way spiritually and morally. May the Lord be honored in our lives as we seek to live with true integrity and be ethical even when others are not. God’s rich blessings to you, your family, and your ministry! Lathur Badoy
