Forgiven But Ruined
“Nasa huli ang pagsisisi” is a common phrase we use! Those words are usually uttered after significant loss has been incurred because of some bad, unwise, or careless thing that was done. There is damage and people are feeling the impact of the mistake or wrong thing that was done.
Today we will talk about an important reminder from the Lord for us! The title of the message is pretty direct. It can be discomforting at the start, but the truth that it brings can set us free. It’s very possible that some of us need to be reminded of this today.
It is possible to be forgiven, but already ruined! After selfish, careless, or wrong choices and actions, we could have permanently damaged precious relationships, valuable financial resources, our walk with the Lord and our testimony for him, physical health which we need for quality of life, or other things. We may ask the Lord for forgiveness and we will be forgiven if our repentance is genuine. We may apologize to people and they may forgive us. But irreparable damage, irretrievable loss, or permanent destruction could have happened already. You or I could end up forgiven, but already ruined in some area of our lives. As one other phrase we say in Filipino, “Minsan hindi na pwede ibalik ang kahapon.”
As we talk about these things, let the Lord bring a holy sobriety to our minds and hearts! Let us wake up from spiritual sleep and moral slumber, and let us take control of our lives again as we are empowered by the Holy Spirit. The Lord is with us and he is for us. He will help us make good, wise, and godly choices so we will not suffer permanent losses of very valuable things.
Regardless of your need or situation may be today, the Lord has a blessing for you! Open your heart to him, come under his leadership, and trust him. Then you will taste and see his goodness in your life.
