Many lives have been destroyed by jealousy and envy. Countless relationships have been hurt by these feelings and the actions people can make when they are consumed or very strongly influenced by jealousy and envy. Even ministries can suffer if people compete, manipulate, or attack because they are jealous of others.
Envy is part of the famous “7 deadly sins” (along with pride, greed, and others). It is a limiting and destructive attitude. A person will be wise to remove it from his or her life. A follower of Christ must pursue greater and greater freedom from jealousy and envy.
The good news is that the Lord is able and willing to help you and me overcome jealousy and envy in our lives. The Holy Spirit will empower you and me. The Word of God (the Bible) gives life to our spirits as we meditate on it every day. Allowing more mature Christ-followers to lead us and form Christ’s character in us will go a long way in helping us become more spiritually free in actual experience.
Because of the power of God, you and I can be free from attitudes and feelings that can limit and destroy us. Let the spiritual journey continue until we reach perfection/maturity in Christ.
