How to Wisely Manage Your Finances
LATEST SUNDAY WORD
I was doing some readings on personal financial management and found some interesting and helpful statements. Let me share a few of them with you.
“Beware of little expenses; a small leak can sink a great ship” (Benjamin Franklin). How true. All of us are familiar with the scenario where money just seems to disappear into thin air. The “little expenses” put together are actually big- big enough to cause our finances to lose their balance/health.
“Never spend your money before you have it” (Thomas Jefferson). How wise and true. Spending your money before you it them is a sure way to create personal financial hell (to use strong language for the sake of driving a point). The list of sad and tragic stories of financial problems that were caused by spending money before money is earned or received is endless.
The Lord knows the importance of wise financial management and gives us very clear, practical, and effective commands and principles in his Word, the Bible. Today, we will look at what the Lord says about wise financial management. We will learn about or be reminded of the purposes of money, the need for a written financial budget, and the blessings of honoring God with our finances. We will cover issues that we face as we seek to be wise and godly managers of the finances that the Lord gives us. These include personal consumer debt, indicators of financial irresponsibility, and considerations in making a written financial budget. We will also hear many inspiring stories on the blessing of honoring the Lord with the money he entrusts to us as his stewards on earth.
Your financial management can improve as you receive the teachings today. The Lord will be pleased and your life will be much more relaxed, peaceful, and happy. Your testimony as a child of God will be strengthened as people see marks of the provision, peace, and joy of the Lord in your life.
