Investing for Eternity
Matthew 6:19 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Secret Wealth. On this earth, this can be good or bad. If the secret wealth is ill-gotten or acquired through dishonest, corrupt, or illegal means, then the hidden assets is a bad thing. If it was acquired through honest and moral means, then the secret wealth is a good thing.
In our lives as followers of Christ, we should have good unseen wealth! I’m not referring to cash, stock investments, or other earthly assets. Rather, I’m talking about wealth that is spiritual and heavenly. It is because these assets are of a spiritual nature and belong to heaven or the next age that they are unseen wealth. They are, however, very real. In fact, they are more real than the physical or visible wealth we are familiar with.
Sad to say, not all believers have unseen, eternal wealth! Many are so absorbed with earthly pursuits that they never invest seriously in eternal things. They may be rich with earthly things, but they are poor as far as heavenly things are concerned. This is sad, even tragic.
When you obey the Lord and do what he says, you are investing in heaven. And the more you invest in the things of God, the more wealth you accumulate in heaven.
Today, we are beginning to launch our exciting, new campaign: EACH ONE CHANGE ONE (E1C1). We want each member of the Lighthouse family to invest in this eternal project. Each One Change One is our thrilling campaign where each one will make it his/her ambition and personal project for God to win and follow up at least one person to the Lord for a period of two to three months. This is easy and doable. Anyone can succeed in this, especially as we do this together.
When each of us shares the gospel to at least one person and help that person grow in his/her relationship with God, we are investing in eternity. Unseen wealth is being accumulated for us in heaven. We will be rich, truly rich, in God’s eyes.
