Receive a holy stirring from God as Ps Lathur Badoy shares a message about KEEP GROWING IN YOUR PASSION FOR GOD. God is the source of spiritual passion. Like any love relationship, our relationship with God takes work. We need to invest time and effort to grow the intimate bond we have with our Creator.
How do we keep growing in our passion for God?
1. Maintain a childlike attitude regarding spiritual things
Matthew 18:3-4 And he said: "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven."
With regard to spiritual things, no one ever reaches a "professional" level where he or she knows all things and can manage on his or her own without God and people around him/her.
Don't become "familiar" with spiritual things (the presence of God, the power of God, etc.)
Don't become "familiar" with the people that the Lord is using in your life (Psalm 25:4-5)
2. Keep doing the things that produced passion for God in your life
You reached your highest levels of passion for the Lord because of certain habits and practices.
As you desire to keep growing in your passion for the Lord, remember to keep doing those things. (Philippians 2:12-13; 2 Timothy 3:14; Daniel 6:7,9; Daniel 6:10)
Daniel was faithful to his spiritual habits, and he was able to keep growing in his passion for God.
3. Remember where you came from and maintain a spirit of gratitude
Gratitude to God for the things that we have and enjoy helps us to be passionate for the Lord. On the other hand, thinking that we deserve what we have and forgetting to be thankful to God hinders us from growing in our passion for God.
Acknowledge that God has done wonderful things in our lives. Without Him, we would not be what we are today. And we certainly cannot get to our future destination without him. (2 Corinthians 3:5-6; 1 Samuel 15:17-19)
"Ang hindi marunong lumingon sa pinanggalingan, hindi makakarating sa patutunguhan."
4. Keep your dependence on God and joy in the Lord, not on people or things
1 Timothy 6:17b "God richly provides us with all things family, possessions, and achievements. Let your primary confidence and joy be in God.
God wants you to trust in him primarily and people or things only secondarily. To reverse the order is dangerous. It is also, in essence, idol worship, and that is not good. (Psalm 25:1)
Psalm 20:7 "Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God."
