How’s your Lovelife
1 Corinthians 13:4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Happy Hearts Weekend! Love is in the air! The restaurants are full of couples enjoying special meals together. Flowers (especially roses) are in high demand. Love notes - printed or digital - are being exchanged. Social media is full of talk about love and relationships. Families are taking time together to celebrate the bond between their members.
But while there is much TALK on love, there is not as much ACTIONS of TRUE LOVE. There seems to be an excess of words, but a shortage of expression of true, unconditional love. We are grateful for sincere love we receive, however imperfect they may be. But we are also pained by people who say they love us, but actually love only themselves.
This weekend, we want to talk about love, TRUE LOVE. We all want true love, a love that deeply and continuously satisfies. This love can be found in the Lord. People can love us with the kind of love God wants us to have only to the extent that their lives are in line with God. We humans try to love. Sometimes we do well. Most times we fall short of God’s perfect love. But God does not DO love. God IS love. His whole being is love. So he never acts selfishly, and he is able to speak and act consistently in a loving way because that is his nature. He is love.
Stop looking for love in the wrong places. Look for love in the One who loves you unconditionally. God loves you with a pure, selfless, and perfect love. Today, open your heart to him and receive his love. Drink of his love to your full satisfaction, and never be thirsty again. Be healed, restored, strengthened, and set free by the power of God’s love!
