MAN ON FIRE: Living a life of passion for the Lord
The Lord wants you and me to love him with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strength! He also wants us to love our neighbors in the same way that we love ourselves. This is the summary of how he wants us to live our lives (Matthew 22:37-40). It is living a life of love. Not just any love. But first love. Remember the Lord’s rebuke on the believers in Ephesus because they have forsaken their first love for God? You may read that in Revelation 2:1-7.
The Lord wants you to be on fire! Not with a sinful fire. Or a selfish fire. But with a fire of love. Fire consumes. The Lord wants you to be consumed for his glory and purposes. Fire is hot. The Lord wants you to be hot for him. As coffee (or tea) is not good if it’s not hot, so our lives are not pleasing to God if they are not “hot” for him.
This doesn’t mean that you have to give up your job or business so that you can spend every day of your life in the church. You don’t have to stop your education and give all your time to ministry. But being on fire for God means that God is the undisputed #1 in your life. His wish is your command. You would move any thing and every thing just to accommodate him and what he wants in your life.
Are you still on fire for God? Are you still serving him zealously and joyfully? Or have you “cooled down” and regained control of your life? “Jesus is Lord” means that Jesus tells you what to do and you obey it because of love. What he says goes. You obey first, and you don’t complain because you love him. Just as in business you follow the principle of “the customer is always right”, so in life you live by “the Lord is always right” principle.
Today, let’s renew the fire of our passion for obeying the Lord and doing all that he commands us to! Be set on fire again. Be set on fire on a higher level. Be completely consumed for God and his work!
