Pursuing Prosperity – Right Ways and Wrong Ways
Genesis 13:7...The Canaanites and Perizzites were also living in the land at that time. 8 So Abram said to Lot, "Let's not have any quarreling between you and me...for we are close relatives. 9....Let's part company. If you go to the left, I'll go to the right; if you go to the right, I'll go to the left."
There is a popular saying that goes this way: “The end does not justify the means”. The saying is correct. Even when you and I are trying to accomplish some necessary or good things, we are not justified to try to achieve our good goals through bad means.
This principle is also true in our pursuit of the good thing of prosperity, success, or security. Prosperity is good, but we are expected by God to seek it through good and godly means only. We are called upon to seek success or security through right methods and right ways.
Whether it is in your business, profession, job, studies, family, or ministry, you do well to seek prosperity or success. When you do what you do because you love God and want to make him look great to people, you have a right attitude. That will eventually lead to true prosperity or success that lasts. When you consider the good of others also, and not just your own pleasure or desires, when you pursue success, you are bringing joy to God’s heart and are impacting people’s lives with God’s tangible love. Pursue prosperity or success through right ways and you will eventually find true success and its many good by-products or collateral blessings.
With the power of God that is at work in you through the Holy Spirit who is living inside of you, refuse to walk the low road of moral compromise. Don’t give up your high status as a beloved son or daughter of God just for some more money, power, or fame. Never sell your soul to Satan just for recognition, wealth, or self-gratification. Instead, walk the high road of godliness and live out your spiritual royalty status through moral choices that please God. Hold your head high, son or daughter of God, and choose to live in your dignity as a child of God. There are many things that are more important than money, fame or power. Stay ethical and clean in your pursuit of success.
The Lord’s rich blessings on you, your family, and your ministry this week!
