REJOICE! THE SAVIOR HAS COME!
Listen to one of the key prophetic announcements for the coming of the Savior: “Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress..... The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.... You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest, as warriors rejoice when dividing the plunder. For as in the day of Midian's defeat, you have shattered the yoke that burdens them, the bar across their shoulders, the rod of their oppressor. Every warrior's boot used in battle and every garment rolled in blood will be destined for burning, will be fuel for the fire. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.” (Isaiah 9:1-7)
The coming of the eternal Son of God, Jesus Christ, marked the major turning point in world history! God’s promise had finally been fulfilled. The great gap between the holy Creator God and sinful created man was bridged by one supreme sacrifice- the lowering of the eternal Son of God through human birth, and, eventually, through his suffering and death for man’s sins. Now, there is good news of great joy! Salvation from sin and separation from God is possible. Jesus Christ is the Savior that brings reconciliation with God to those who turn away from sin and trust in him as Lord and Savior.
The Christmas season is a time we can focus on the gift of new life because of Jesus Christ! Make sure you have received God’s great gift of his Son. The Bible says that “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16). And because this gift is so desperately needed and so good, don’t just keep him to yourself. Tell others about Jesus Christ as well. Parties, gifts, and vacations are wonderful. But Jesus Christ is the the supreme gift that everyone must know about and get an opportunity to receive.
May you have your best Christmas so far! Enjoy fulness of life in Christ. You have every reason to celebrate. The Savior has come. God is with us!
