RUNNING YOUR BEST IN 2020
1 Corinthians 9:24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. 27 No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
Dear Lighthouse family:
You are in a race. This is true whether you’re aware of it or not. And the way you run the race determines whether you will win or not. We all want to win and the Lord wants us to win. So let’s talk about running our best this year 2020.
First, we can be assured that the Lord wants us to win. He is fully committed to help us succeed. But we need to understand that the way he helps us is by guiding us and empowering us. He teaches us and is beside us as we run the race with seriousness. But we need to take the race seriously and run it with determination to win so we glorify God and accomplish our mission here on earth.
The new year 2020 is on. The race has began. Let’s run and run it well. There is a course that’s set for this race of life; let’s follow the course. There are rules that govern this race; let’s follow those rules. Runners run with a support team; let’s make sure we have them in our lives this year 2020. We will get tired, perhaps even discouraged, but let’s stay on the race and refuse to drop it. And some may be running just for the sake of running, but let us all run to win for the honor of Christ and the salvation of the lost.
The race may end soon. Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior may come sooner that others think he will. Let’s run the race well and faithfully. The Lord will richly and generously reward those who loved him enough on their short lives here on earth. They will be rich in the eternal heavens.
May the Lord abundantly bless you and grant the desires of your heart.
With love and prayers,
