Testify
There is a story in the Bible that speaks of our story as well. It is the story of a man who lived a broken life. He was imprisoned by powers that he powerless against. He did not have peace and joy. But everything changed when he met Jesus Christ. Jesus set him free and made him whole. His life turned around for good. Now he was alive and happy. We will look at his (and our) story today.
Overwhelmed with gratitude, the man wanted to spend the rest of his life going with Jesus Christ in his travels to proclaim the good news of salvation in many places. But Jesus gave him a surprising response. He told him to go home to his city and tell the people the great things that God had done for him. He was to be a witness of Christ’s forgiveness and healing power. His job was to testify about what God had done for him.
In the same way, you and I have been changed by the goodness and power of the Lord. He has set us free from our dark past. We are now well because of Jesus Christ. God does not expect the vast majority of us to go to far and many places to tell the people there about the Lord. But he does want and expect us to testify to people where we live about what he has done in our lives. You and I are to testify of his kindness in our lives.
Testifying about how much God has done for us is natural and easy. No special education is necessary. Some training may help, but it is not required. No scripts are to be memorized and recited to people. You just simply open your mouth and tell people your story. You’re the expert in telling it because it’s your story. You don’t need to worry about making mistakes because you know every single detail of your story. Just tell people how much God has done for you.
Today, let a new Testify revolution begin! Just open your mouth, speak from your heart, and you will see how others will be amazed at God’s goodness and power. They will know there’s hope, and it is found in Jesus Christ who has changed your life!
