THE TIME TO REPENT IS NOW

GOD WANTS US TO REPENT, THAT IS, TO TURN FROM LIVING TO PLEASE OURSELVES TO LIVING TO PLEASE CHRIST (Ecclesiastes 12:13 – 14; Luke 9:23 – 25) AS THE MAKER AND OWNER OF EVERY HUMAN BEING, GOD COMMANDS ALL PEOPLE TO REPENT (Psalm 100:3; Acts 17:30; Matthew 4:17) YOU AND I NEED TO REPENT BECAUSE GOD’S JUDGMENT WHICH WILL DESTROY THE ENEMIES OF GOD IS COMING (Acts 17:31; Acts 2:5 – 11) YOU AND I NEED TO REPENT BECAUSE WE HAVE NOT LIVED THE WAY GOD WANTS US TO LIVE
  1. We have all gone astray and turned to our own selfish ways (Isaiah 53:6)
  2. We have not honored God who holds our lives in his hands (Daniel 5:23)
  3. We have broken the 10 commandments (James 2:10-11)
  4. We have violated the law of love (Matthew 22:37 – 40)
  5. We have not submitted to the Lordship of Jesus Christ (Romans 10:9)
  6. We are guilty not only of sins of commission, but also of sins of omission (Matthew 25: 41 – 46; Rev 3:15 – 19)
  7. We have wasted the resources and opportunities God gives us (Luke 12:47 – 48)
To REPENT means to CHANGE your mind, emotions, will, & actions on the matters involved Repentance is a decision, not an emotion (Acts 19:18–19) REMORSE, EMOTIONAL PROMISES, AND THE LIKE ARE NOT TRUE REPENTANCE (2 Corinthians 7:9 – 11) REPENTANCE IS NECESSARY SO WE CAN HAVE TRUE FAITH & SALVATION. Salvation from sin and its sure consequences is possible only when we really repent. We need more than know the love of God and the goodness of God (however needed those things are). We need to see that we have violated the law of God, we are guilty before the Lord, and we will not stand the coming Judgment if we don’t repent (Mark 1:14–15) Without an ATTITUDE OF REPENTANCE in our hearts, you & I can never progress in our spiritual lives (Hebrews 6:1–3) LET’S REPENT WHEN GOD HAS BEEN EXTRA KIND AND GRACIOUS TO US (Romans 2:4) LET’S REPENT WHEN GOD DISCIPLINES US (Hebrews 12:5 – 6; 1 Corinthians 11:29 – 32)  REPENT SO YOU WON’T BE DESTROYED (Luke 13:1–5) REPENT WHILE GOD GIVES YOU THE OPPORTUNITY (Matthew 27:3 – 5; Hebrews 12:16 – 17) GOD GIVES YOU THE GRACE TO REPENT IF YOU WANT RETURN TO HIM (2 Timothy 2:25; Acts 11:18) REPENT BEFORE ITS TOO LATE (Isaiah 55:6 – 7)
