John 4:34 “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. 35 Do you not say, ‘Four months more and then the harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. 36 Even now the reaper draws his wages, even now he harvests the crop for eternal life..
HAPPY 12TH BIRTHDAY LIGHTHOUSE! Can you believe it? We are now 12 years old. Time has indeed flown so fast. When Pastor Leah and I as well as those who were part of Lighthouse in the earlier years look at photos of the past years, we almost cannot believe that we have gained so much weight in what seems to be just a few years. But our hearts are filled with gratitude to our good, good Father for every single day of the 12 years so far. Those years have been blessed years, including the few short seasons of trial and difficulty. What can we say, but thanks be to God who has sustained us through all these years and has given us blessings we do not deserve? All praise, honor, and glory be to him and him alone. TOGETHER WE HAVE GROWN! Lighthouse is far different from the small group of 14 people who gathered in the sala of the rented apartment or parents’ house of Pastor Leah, Paul, and myself. Lighthouse has grown in number, maturity, and ministries. We give praises to God for the few thousands of people who attend our worship celebrations and regular activities, and the many who are part of the over 300 existing life groups. TOGETHER WE WILL GO! Pastor Leah and I along with our teams of 12 leaders are convinced that the Lord wants us to go beyond our comfortable settings and intentionally start outreach works, daughter churches, and ongoing mission ministries. Honestly, this means going beyond our own little lives and closely-knit relationships, and living bigger lives by reaching out to individuals and groups beyond our present geographical and cultural-linguistic scope and spaces. By saying “Yes” to the Lord’s command to proclaim the good news of reconciliation with God through Jesus Christ to all nations (ethno-linguistic groups) and to every person in the world, we are embarking on an adventure that would cost much, but would reward much more. We play different roles in this new season of going, but we will all share in the joy, thrill, and reward of the harvest. Of course, in our push forward, we will not forget to grow and carry on the usual things that are integral in being a strong and happy church. Before us lies a frontier, a fertile and rich land full of people and groups who need the Lord and who are ready to receive the gospel if they will hear it! Let’s keep growing, and let us be going out more! With God’s sure and adequate help, we can do it and we will do it! Again, happy birthday to our beloved church! LET US ENJOY THE CELEBRATIONS TODAY!
