Why Your Life Group Needs You
You are a gifted person! You are a capable person. There is much good in you. You can contribute much for the good of others!
A part of you may feel uncomfortable with the foregoing words, but you need to accept them as true because they are. Your feelings may tell you that they are not, but they don’t change the fact that those statements are true. Your self-image may say that you are not worthy of those words, but the truth is that you are. God made you in his image and likeness. You have deposits of the Word of God inside you. The Lord has given you spiritual and natural abilities that can benefit other people. The Spirit of God is inside you.
Last Sunday, we talked about how every person can benefit from being actively involved in a life group. We said that there is so much that we can receive as we participate in the life and relationship flow in life groups. Today, we will look at the other side of why you and I do well to participate in life groups. Specifically, we will be reminded that we should attend life groups because we have something that someone needs or will benefit from.
Here at Lighthouse, everyone is welcome regardless of what level of involvement he or she is ready, willing, or able to give. No one will be forced or required to do anything. On the other hand, there are things that we as a church family values very highly that we strongly encourage everyone to seriously consider taking part in. One of these core values is participation in small communities of believers called life groups. Last week, we said that it is good for us to actively participate in life groups because of what we can receive. Today, we will be reminded that it is good to join life groups because we have something to contribute in the life groups that can help or bless others. You can give something that someone may desperately need in your life group. Your encouragement or prayer may the life line that someone is waiting for.
When you and I actively participate in life groups, we are able to obey Jesus’ command to love one another! This pleases God and brings blessing to our lives and the lives of many others. Truly, it’s more fun serving the Lord when we do it with others! We are better together!
