Posted on March 7, 2021July 29, 2024

DAMAGED EMOTIONS are emotional feelings, responses and perspective that are the product of wounds and injuries that have been done to our inner life.

Common Sources of Wounds and Trauma

- Rejection - Bereavement

- Parental Tyranny - Physical / sexual abuse

- Parental Indifference

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF A DAMAGED HEART:

- Defecting Self -image    - Dysfunctional relationships

- Protecting myself   - Hard to forgive

- Deep sadness   - Repetitive patterns of defeat

- Defensiveness   - Hard to feel loved

- Easily Offended or Frustrated - Lashing out

- Agreeing with Lies   - Feelings of anger towards God

- Inner rawness     - Self-hate

- Irritability   - Escapism

- Little or no tolerance   - Retaliation urges

- Feelings always rising up - Irresponsible behavior

- Overly sensitive about an event in your past

- Hypersensitivity   - Irrational expectations of others

- Fear of failure   - Perfectionism:

- Self-resentment   - Self-unforgiveness

HURT LEADERS EXHIBIT THESE SYMPTOMS:

  • Lack of Love for People • Fear of Failure
  • Inappropriate guilt • Driven to Perform
  • Loss of joy in the ministry

Are you a VICTIM or VICTOR?

THE VICTIM (Psalms 10:14)

The VICTIM mentality rest on 3 key beliefs:

  • Bad things happen and will keep on happening
  • Other people or circumstances are to blame
  • Any efforts to change will fail, so there’s no point in trying

THE VICTOR - A VICTOR is one person who has defeated an opponent. A victor is a winner in a fight! (Psalm 34:18; Psalm 147:3; Isaiah 61:1; Psalm 51:17)

FROM VICTIM TO VICTOR

Practical ways to overcome the reality of failure, injustice & adversity in your past & present life (Read 2 Sam 12:15-23)

3 keys to healing from trauma, abused & damaged emotions

1.) THE “YOU” FACTOR - ADMIT THE PAIN AND DAMAGED. TAKE INITIATIVE. DECIDE. MOVE ON

2.) THE “GOD” FACTOR - The presence of God is the place of your healing.

3.) THE “FORGIVENESS” FACTOR (Ephesians 4:31-32)

A VICTIM OR A VICTOR – THE CHOICE IS YOURS!!!
