How to Succeed in 2013 – Part 2
LATEST SUNDAY WORD
I trust that you have adjusted from the celebration mood of the long Christmas season to the more serious everyday tasks at the office, business, school, home, and ministry. We thank God for the joys of the Christmas season and we are getting ready to conquer “Promised Lands” for the glory of God this year 2013.
Know that the Lord wants the best- first, for his glory, and, second, for our good. Rest in the assurance that the Lord’s plan is for you to have a bright future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). You have reason to have a confident expectation of good things to come.
Instead of being pre-occupied with providing for your needs and securing a bright future for yourself and for your family, set your heart on pleasing God in all that you do. Let your life at the office, business, school, home, or church be a testimony to the greatness and goodness of God. In whatever you do every day of this year, do it so that people will see the blessings of salvation or a right standing with God through Jesus Christ. Use the many opportunities you have at work, home, or school to tell others that they can receive forgiveness of sins because Jesus Christ died to take away their sins and rose from death so that they can be made right with God.
Today, we continue the teaching we began last Sunday. We will look at 6 more things that you and I can do so that we will succeed this year and beyond. We will be encouraged to pursue the mission of our Master, be reminded to have a grasp of where we are at the present time, be inspired by the fact the Lord has promises for our success, and be taught the importance of prayer and discerning the workings of God in our circumstances. We will also be reminded of the importance of practicing self-discipline and working with others.
The Bible has the principles and instructions you and I need in order to succeed this year 2013 and beyond for the praise of the great God who blesses us. Open your heart and mind as we look into the Bible for guidance from God. Receive empowerment from the Holy Spirit to be all that the Lord wants you to be and to do all that he wants you to do this year. Most importantly, put your complete trust in the Lord and surrender the complete control of your life to him. The Lord takes very good care of those who have entrusted their lives and their futures to him.
