Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Is God first in your life? Do you give him the first and best? Or does he receive only left overs from you? Today we want to talk about first fruits living! We want to learn or be reminded of the infinite worth of God and how that means that he deserves only and nothing but the very best from us. Because he is the ultimate source of all that we are and have, we owe him the honor of receiving from us - his benefactors or recipients of his mercy and kindness - the absolute best possible from us. This covers our time, our strength, our finances, and everything else. God has said in his Word (the Bible) that he asks or requires that we give him the first and best. Before we take for ourselves what he has so graciously provided, we give to him first. And we give him the offering of the highest quality possible. As our act of worship, devotion, and faith, we give him the very best. When we give to God after we have already satisfied or indulged ourselves, our offering is not acceptable to him. And certainly, God will not receive offerings that are defective or of inferior quality. He is God Almighty. He deserves and asks the honor of being given only the best of what he has generously provided to us. We are not being legalistic when we talk this way. Rather, we are upholding the majesty of God and how it is our joy to bring glory to him through giving the offering in the various aspects of our lives of the first and of the best. When we say we love and honor him, then we will seek to give offerings of the proper kind and with joyful, worshipful hearts. Give God the first and best of your time, energy, and finances. It pleases him. It also puts you in the position of receiving bountiful harvests from his generous hand. Lathur Badoy
