ZEALOUS: 3 commitments of a Christ-follower

What puts a smile on God’s face? What brings much joy to the heart of God? The Bible gives clear answers to those questions. Though there are many good things that people can do that pleases God, some things “ring a bell” in God’s heart in ways that are greater or louder than the others. In telling some stories that have some significant meanings and implications to people, the Lord Jesus said, “I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents ...” (Gospel of Luke 15:7). From here we get a glimpse of what deeply touches the heart of God. We see that there is great joy in heaven when a person who is spiritually lost returns to the Lord. The salvation of people and their growing in spiritual maturity are matters that have very high value in God’s heart! Today, we will talk about zeal for God. We will look at 3 basic commitments that every Christ-follower needs to have. These are telling others the Good News of salvation, participating in efforts for the salvation of the spiritually lost, and helping Christ-followers reach spiritual maturity. Not all of us are pastors or preachers, but all of us are called upon by God to open our mouths and tell our families and friends about the Good News that people can receive abundant life and freedom through Jesus Christ! Not all of us are frontline speakers or performers, but all of us are expected by God to contribute to the efforts to reach people for Christ. You may not be a teacher in a Bible class, but you can help other Christ-followers reach spiritual maturity! Today, let’s go to the next level of our zeal for God! Let’s practice these 3 commitments on a higher level. The Lord would be delighted and we would be blessed as well.
